Microchipping

Michrochips are about the size of a grain of rice.  Each microchip registered to a pet has a unique ID number to positively and permanently identify your pet.  The microchip does not have a battery source and is activated only momentarily when a scanner is used to pick up your pets unique microchip number.

Beechwold uses the AKC Companion Animal Recovery microchipping system (CAR).   We use the ISO 134.2kHz and employ the most current universal scanner capable of reading all brands of microchips.  ISO microchips are the international standard of microchips and  are quickly growing in popularity in the United States.  If a pet is going to travel abroad, this frequency is read by most international ports of call/customs agencies.  Older scanners may not be able to read this frequency but the 134.2kHz is becoming the worldwide standard frequency.

AKC charges only a one time registration fee and has additional optional benefits such as a lifetime subscription to a Pet Poison Helpline.  For additional information go to www.akccar.org
